JUST GO!

What was really important to Jesus? We can find the answer to that question in Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Of all the words of wisdom that Jesus could have left with his beloved disciples, He left them with this command. Now, although this set of scriptures could be a sermon series, today I want to discuss one word; that word is “GO”.
When Jesus said “GO to all nations”, He was not necessarily saying to travel to other countries. Here He is commanding us to “Go” to other people groups. For example, God might be tugging at your heart to speak to your neighbor that is struggling by bringing them a warm meal. Maybe he has put it on your heart to talk to someone in your family about Jesus and the hope there is in His love. Maybe there are some of us God is calling out of state to teach others the good news of the saving power of the blood of Jesus. Or maybe, God wants to use you in another country to tell others about Jesus that have never heard his great name! So, what does your “GO” look like?
The point I am hitting home is “GO” is an action word. God did not save us to sit; God redeemed us to make more disciples! Why do you think Bill spends hour after hour preparing sermons and lessons to teach and encourage us? Bill knows the eternal implications of equipping us to “GO and make disciples”! So, again I ask you. “What does your GO look like?”
Now you are probably thinking now wait just a minute Richard, what does your GO look like? I am glad you asked.
Well my GO looks like this; after years of praying and going on different mission trips, Carrie and I had our prayers answered where to go. We bought a truck and camper, sold or gave away most of our stuff so we could put the remaining possessions in the camper. Last March, I left my job of over 13 years, not knowing where we will be working, where we would be staying and not sure what state we would be in. We left Easter Sunday and not sure when we would return. We left the safety, security and comfort of the place we grew up in and that we have always called home. Most of all, we left our friends, family and our brothers and sisters in Christ that we love. WHY? We did this to have the opportunity to spread the hope of the gospel across this great, but broken country of ours.
Christian, we are here on this earth to spread the Good News about Jesus and the sacrifice He made on that cross for all of mankind! Now I ask you, if it is so important to our Lord and Savior, shouldn’t it be important to us? What does your GO look like?

……until next time.
